### sec.229 Power of court
A court may, in addition to any other penalty it may impose, order that a licensee’s licence or a motor salesperson’s registration certificate be suspended for a stated period or cancelled if the licensee or motor salesperson has been convicted of an offence against this Act.
Subsection (3) applies if—
the court orders that a licensee’s licence be cancelled and the licensee is an individual; or
the court orders a motor salesperson’s registration certificate be cancelled.
The court must also order that the licensee or motor salesperson be disqualified for a stated period or permanently from holding a licence or registration certificate.
The court may also order that a person convicted of an offence against this Act be disqualified from holding a licence or registration certificate under this Act for a stated period or permanently.
The court may make an order under subsection (1) or (4) —
on the chief executive’s application; or
on its own initiative.
If an order is made by a court under this section on the court’s own initiative, the court must cause a copy of the order to be given to the chief executive.
