### sec.71 Appointment of members—persons from panels
The Minister must appoint 3 persons from each panel to be members of the committee.
One of the persons appointed from the panel submitted by organisations representing operators must represent quarry operators.
One of the persons appointed from the panel submitted by industrial organisations representing workers must be a member of the industrial organisation that represents the majority of the workers in Queensland.
The Minister may appoint a person under subsection (1) only if the person is experienced in operations or the Minister otherwise considers the person appropriate to be a member of the committee.
In selecting a person for appointment under subsection (1) , the Minister must also consider the following in relation to the person—
breadth of experience in the mining industry;
demonstrated commitment to promoting safety and health standards in the mining industry;
practical knowledge of the mining industry and of relevant legislation.
If a panel of names is not submitted to the Minister within the stated time, the Minister may appoint 3 persons the Minister considers appropriate to be members of the committee.
The members mentioned in this section must be appointed under this Act and not the Public Sector Act 2022 .
