### sec.286C Continuation of lease while application being dealt with
This section applies if—
a properly made application for renewal of a mining lease is not withdrawn, refused or granted before the lease’s expiry day ends; and
after the expiry day, the holder—
continues to pay rental on the lease and other amounts required to be paid under this Act; and
otherwise complies with this Act and the lease conditions.
The lease continues in force subject to the rights, entitlements and obligations in effect immediately before the end of the expiry day until the application is withdrawn, refused or granted.
If the application is for renewal of a prescribed mineral mining lease, the mining lease is taken to have a development plan—
while the lease continues in force under subsection (2) ; and
even if the plan period for the current development plan ends.

(sec.286C-ssec.1) This section applies if— a properly made application for renewal of a mining lease is not withdrawn, refused or granted before the lease’s expiry day ends; and after the expiry day, the holder— continues to pay rental on the lease and other amounts required to be paid under this Act; and otherwise complies with this Act and the lease conditions.

- (a) a properly made application for renewal of a mining lease is not withdrawn, refused or granted before the lease’s expiry day ends; and
- (b) after the expiry day, the holder— (i) continues to pay rental on the lease and other amounts required to be paid under this Act; and (ii) otherwise complies with this Act and the lease conditions.
