A direction given to a person under section 179 (a stop direction ) may be given orally or by written notice (a stop notice ).
However, if the direction is given orally, it must be confirmed by written notice (also a stop notice ) given to the person as soon as practicable.
A stop direction may be given for a thing at a place occupied by a primary licensee, a lottery agent or other person involved in the conduct of an approved lottery.
A stop direction does not apply to a use of the thing carried out for repairing or testing the thing.
A stop notice must state—
the grounds on which the inspector believes the thing is unsatisfactory; and
the circumstances (if any) under which the stop direction may be cancelled.
