### sec.134 Court proceedings for overdue rates or charges
A local government may recover overdue rates or charges by bringing court proceedings for a debt against a person who is liable to pay the overdue rates or charges.
If the local government does so, but does not recover all of the overdue rates or charges from the person, the local government may recover the remaining overdue rates or charges from any other person who is liable to pay the overdue rates or charges (for example, a joint owner).
If a court orders a person to pay overdue rates or charges, and the person fails to comply with the court order, the person is not liable to imprisonment for the failure.
