### sec.102 Reading meters for utility charges
This section is about the reading of meters for utility charges.
A local government may, by resolution, decide a meter is taken to have been read during the period that starts 2 weeks before, and ends 2 weeks after, the day on which the meter is actually read.
In calculating utility charges for a period ending on 30 April, if a meter is read on 10 May, the meter reading is taken to be the meter reading on 30 April.
This section does not limit a local government’s power to make local laws about other aspects of the administration of the metered consumption of a utility service.
A local government may make a local law to provide for water consumption to be estimated on the basis of the best information that is reasonably available if a water meter is found to be malfunctioning or inoperative during any period of consumption.
