a riot or open violence;
a serious threat that a riot or open violence will happen;
circumstances that pose a serious risk to the health or safety of persons at the polling booth;

If a poll is adjourned under subsection (1) or section 52A (3) , the returning officer must fix a day (no later than 34 days after the day on which the poll is adjourned) for taking, or resuming, the adjourned poll.
The returning officer must publish notice of the day fixed for taking, or resuming, the adjourned poll on the electoral commission’s website, and in other ways the returning officer considers appropriate.
If an adjourned poll is held, only electors who are enrolled in the electoral district for which the polling booth is established and who have not otherwise voted in the election, are entitled to vote.
The adjourned poll is taken to have been held on the polling day.
