### sec.45AA Application for recommendation that poll be conducted by postal ballot
A local government may apply to the electoral commissioner to make a written recommendation to the Minister that a poll be conducted by postal ballot in—
for an election for all of the local government’s area—all of the local government’s area or a part or division of the local government’s area; or
for an election for a division of the local government’s area—the division or a part of the division.
The application must be made—
for a poll for a quadrennial election—before 1 May in the year preceding the quadrennial election or a later day approved by the electoral commissioner; or
for a poll for a by-election—before the day for holding the by-election is fixed by the returning officer under section 24 .

(sec.45AA-ssec.1) A local government may apply to the electoral commissioner to make a written recommendation to the Minister that a poll be conducted by postal ballot in— for an election for all of the local government’s area—all of the local government’s area or a part or division of the local government’s area; or for an election for a division of the local government’s area—the division or a part of the division.
