### sec.123V Electoral expenditure incurred by registered political party or third party for quadrennial election
This section applies in relation to electoral expenditure incurred, for a quadrennial election, by—
a registered political party that endorses a candidate in the election; or
a registered third party for the election.
Subsection (3) applies if the electoral expenditure is for advertising or other relevant material that—
is communicated to electors in a local government’s area; and
is not mainly communicated to electors outside the local government’s area.
The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party for the quadrennial election for the local government.
Subsection (5) applies if the electoral expenditure is for advertising or other relevant material that—
is communicated to electors in more than 1 local government area; and
is not mainly communicated to electors in any 1 local government area.
The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party—
in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government—
in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated; and
for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated.
If the electoral expenditure is for carrying out an opinion poll or research mainly in relation to 1 local government’s area, the electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party for the quadrennial election for the local government.
Subsection (8) applies if the electoral expenditure is for carrying out an opinion poll or research—
in relation to more than 1 local government area; and
that is not mainly in relation to any 1 local government area.
The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party—
in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government—
in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out; and
for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out.

(sec.123V-ssec.1) This section applies in relation to electoral expenditure incurred, for a quadrennial election, by— a registered political party that endorses a candidate in the election; or a registered third party for the election.
(sec.123V-ssec.2) Subsection (3) applies if the electoral expenditure is for advertising or other relevant material that— is communicated to electors in a local government’s area; and is not mainly communicated to electors outside the local government’s area.
(sec.123V-ssec.3) The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party for the quadrennial election for the local government.
(sec.123V-ssec.4) Subsection (5) applies if the electoral expenditure is for advertising or other relevant material that— is communicated to electors in more than 1 local government area; and is not mainly communicated to electors in any 1 local government area.
(sec.123V-ssec.5) The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party— in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government— in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated; and for which the party endorsed a candidate; or in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated.
(sec.123V-ssec.6) If the electoral expenditure is for carrying out an opinion poll or research mainly in relation to 1 local government’s area, the electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party for the quadrennial election for the local government.
(sec.123V-ssec.7) Subsection (8) applies if the electoral expenditure is for carrying out an opinion poll or research— in relation to more than 1 local government area; and that is not mainly in relation to any 1 local government area.
(sec.123V-ssec.8) The electoral expenditure is taken to be incurred by the registered political party or registered third party— in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government— in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out; and for which the party endorsed a candidate; or in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out.
- (a) a registered political party that endorses a candidate in the election; or
- (b) a registered third party for the election.
- (a) is communicated to electors in a local government’s area; and
- (b) is not mainly communicated to electors outside the local government’s area.
- (a) is communicated to electors in more than 1 local government area; and
- (b) is not mainly communicated to electors in any 1 local government area.
- (a) in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government— (i) in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated; and (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
- (i) in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated; and
- (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
- (b) in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated.
- (i) in whose area the advertising or other relevant material is communicated; and
- (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
- (a) in relation to more than 1 local government area; and
- (b) that is not mainly in relation to any 1 local government area.
- (a) in relation to a registered political party—for the quadrennial election for each local government— (i) in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out; and (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
- (i) in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out; and
- (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
- (b) in relation to a registered third party—for the quadrennial election for each local government in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out.
- (i) in relation to whose area the opinion poll or research is carried out; and
- (ii) for which the party endorsed a candidate; or
