### sec.166 Filling vacancy in office of another councillor A vacancy in the office of a councillor, other than the mayor, must be filled— if the office becomes vacant during the beginning of the local government’s term—in the way decided by the local government under subsection (2) ; or if the office becomes vacant during the middle of the local government’s term—by a by-election; or if the office becomes vacant during the final part of the local government’s term—by following the procedure under section 166B .
