### sec.147 Compensation for damage or loss caused
A local government worker who enters a property—
must not cause, or contribute to, damage to any structure or works on the property; and
must take all reasonable steps to ensure that the worker causes as little inconvenience, and does as little other damage, as is practicable in the circumstances.
If a person incurs damage or loss because of the exercise, or purported exercise, of a power under this division (including the loss of the value of materials removed from a property, or the reduction in the value of the property, for example), the local government must pay the person compensation.
The compensation equals—
the amount agreed between the person and local government; or
if the person and local government can not agree, the amount that is decided by a court.
The court may make any order about costs that the court considers just.
