### sec.229 Liability for certain offences against Act
Despite section 7 or 23 of the Criminal Code , if an offence against section 155 , 156 , 157 or 161 is committed by a person as agent or employee, the principal or employer is presumed to have participated in the offence, may be charged with actually committing the offence and, subject to subsection (2) , may be punished for the offence.
It is a defence to a charge made against a person under subsection (1) that—
the offence happened without the defendant’s knowledge or authority; and
the defendant had exercised due diligence to avoid the commission of the offence.
