### sec.24 Government legal officers and application of legal profession rules A provision of the solicitors rules or the barristers rules does not apply to a government legal officer if— the officer does not hold a local practising certificate granted by the regulatory authority that made the rules; or otherwise—compliance with the provision would involve the officer committing an act contrary to, or failing to do an act for a purpose of, another Act that applies to the officer because of the officer’s employment or appointment in an entity mentioned in section 12 (1) of the Act or section 5 . For the relationship between the solicitors rules or the barristers rules and a provision of this regulation, see section 229 of the Act . - (a) the officer does not hold a local practising certificate granted by the regulatory authority that made the rules; or - (b) otherwise—compliance with the provision would involve the officer committing an act contrary to, or failing to do an act for a purpose of, another Act that applies to the officer because of the officer’s employment or appointment in an entity mentioned in section 12 (1) of the Act or section 5 .
