### sec.187 Failure to give information or attend proceedings
A person given notice under section 197 to give information to, or attend before, the information commissioner must not, without reasonable excuse, fail to do so.
Maximum penalty—100 penalty units.
If the person is an individual and is given notice to give information, it is a reasonable excuse for the person to fail to give the information if complying with the requirement might tend to incriminate the person or expose the person to a penalty.
Subsection (2) does not apply in relation to information that is in a document required to be kept by the person under this Act.
