### sec.43 Entitlement—long term casual employees
This section applies to a long term casual employee.
The employee is entitled to 10 days of leave (also carer’s leave ) in each year to care for or support—
a person who is a member of the employee’s immediate family or household—
when the person is ill; or
because an unexpected emergency arises in relation to the person; or
a person who has experienced domestic violence.
The employee may take additional carer’s leave if the employer agrees.
Carer’s leave may be taken for part of a day.
The employer must not fail to re-engage the employee only because the employee has taken carer’s leave under this section.
Leave taken under this section is unpaid.
(sec.43-ssec.1) This section applies to a long term casual employee.

- (a) a person who is a member of the employee’s immediate family or household— (i) when the person is ill; or (ii) because an unexpected emergency arises in relation to the person; or
- (i) when the person is ill; or
- (ii) because an unexpected emergency arises in relation to the person; or
- (b) a person who has experienced domestic violence.
