### sec.44 Minister may give directions to Service
The Minister may give a Service a written direction about a matter relevant to the performance of its functions under this Act, if the Minister is satisfied it is necessary to do so in the public interest.
Without limiting subsection (1) , the Minister may direct a Service to give the Minister stated reports and information.
However, the Minister may not give a direction about—
the health services provided, or to be provided, to a particular person; or
the employment of a particular person.
The Minister must give a copy of a direction to the chief executive who must, as soon as practicable, publish it in a way that allows it to be accessed by members of the public, including, for example, on the internet.
A Service must comply with a direction given by the Minister.
A Service’s annual report under the Financial Accountability Act 2009 for a financial year must include a statement about—
each direction given by the Minister to the Service during the financial year; and
action taken by the Service as a result of the direction.
