### sec.557 Power to issue embargo notice
This section applies if—
an authorised officer may seize a thing under this Chapter; and
the thing can not, or can not readily, be physically seized and removed.
The authorised officer may issue a notice (an embargo notice ) under this section prohibiting any dealing with the thing or any part of it without the written consent of the Regulator or an authorised officer.
The embargo notice—
must be in the approved form; and
must list the activities it prohibits; and
must include a copy of section 558 .
The authorised officer may issue the embargo notice—
by causing a copy of it to be served on the relevant entity; or
if a relevant entity can not be located after the authorised officer exercises reasonable diligence to do so, by fixing a copy of the notice on the thing the subject of the notice in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way.
In this section—
dealing , with a thing or part of a thing, includes—
moving, selling, leasing or transferring the thing or part; and
changing information on, or deleting information from, the thing or part.
relevant entity , for an embargo notice, means—
the driver of the heavy vehicle to which the thing the subject of the notice relates; or
the occupier of the place in which the thing the subject of the notice is located.

(sec.557-ssec.1) This section applies if— an authorised officer may seize a thing under this Chapter; and the thing can not, or can not readily, be physically seized and removed.
(sec.557-ssec.2) The authorised officer may issue a notice (an embargo notice ) under this section prohibiting any dealing with the thing or any part of it without the written consent of the Regulator or an authorised officer.
(sec.557-ssec.3) The embargo notice— must be in the approved form; and must list the activities it prohibits; and must include a copy of section 558 .
(sec.557-ssec.4) The authorised officer may issue the embargo notice— by causing a copy of it to be served on the relevant entity; or if a relevant entity can not be located after the authorised officer exercises reasonable diligence to do so, by fixing a copy of the notice on the thing the subject of the notice in a conspicuous position and in a reasonably secure way.
