### sec.37 Use of force
For section 491 (2) of the Law , a police officer is authorised to use force against a person in the exercise or purported exercise of a function under Chapter 9 of the Law if the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 authorises the police officer to use the force against the person.
For section 492 (1)(b) of the Law , the exercise of the power to use force against property is authorised for the purposes of the following provisions of the Law —
section 497 (4) (a) ;
section 498 (6) ;
section 500 (2) (c) ;
section 518 (6) (b) ;
section 519 (7) ;
section 521 (1) ;
section 523 (2) .

(sec.37-ssec.1) For section 491 (2) of the Law , a police officer is authorised to use force against a person in the exercise or purported exercise of a function under Chapter 9 of the Law if the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 authorises the police officer to use the force against the person.
(sec.37-ssec.2) For section 492 (1)(b) of the Law , the exercise of the power to use force against property is authorised for the purposes of the following provisions of the Law — section 497 (4) (a) ; section 498 (6) ; section 500 (2) (c) ; section 518 (6) (b) ; section 519 (7) ; section 521 (1) ; section 523 (2) .
