### sec.242A Unclaimed payments If a person entitled to a non-monetary payment in relation to playing a gaming machine does not collect the payment within 12 months after the person becomes entitled to the payment, the relevant person may— dispose of the payment by public auction or tender or in some other way approved by the commissioner; and pay for the disposal from the proceeds of sale. Also, the relevant person must deal with any amount remaining from the proceeds of sale as required under subsection (4) . Maximum penalty—100 penalty units. If a person is entitled to a monetary payment in relation to playing a gaming machine and the amount is not paid within 12 months after the person becomes entitled to the payment, the relevant person must, within 14 days after the end of the 12 months, deal with the amount as required under subsection (4) . Maximum penalty—100 penalty units. The relevant person must, for an amount mentioned in subsection (2) or (3) — if the relevant person knows who is entitled to receive the amount and the person’s whereabouts—pay the amount to the person; or if the relevant person knows who is entitled to receive the amount, but the relevant person does not know the person’s whereabouts—pay the amount into the designated departmental account; or if the relevant person does not know who is entitled to receive the amount—pay the amount into the designated departmental account.
