### sec.72 Chief executive may appoint authorised officers
The chief executive may appoint any of the following persons as authorised officers—
officers and employees of the public service;
employees of a government owned corporation;
employees of a rail government entity under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 ;
members or employees of a local government;
other persons prescribed by regulation.
The chief executive may appoint a person as an authorised officer only if—
in the chief executive’s opinion, the person has the necessary experience or expertise to be an authorised officer; or
the person has satisfactorily finished training approved by the chief executive.
If the person is a member or employee of a local government, the chief executive must not make the appointment without the agreement of the local government’s chief executive officer.
The chief executive may restrict an authorised person’s powers by written notice given to the person.

(sec.72-ssec.1) The chief executive may appoint any of the following persons as authorised officers— officers and employees of the public service; employees of a government owned corporation; employees of a rail government entity under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 ; members or employees of a local government; other persons prescribed by regulation.
(sec.72-ssec.2) The chief executive may appoint a person as an authorised officer only if— in the chief executive’s opinion, the person has the necessary experience or expertise to be an authorised officer; or the person has satisfactorily finished training approved by the chief executive.
(sec.72-ssec.3) If the person is a member or employee of a local government, the chief executive must not make the appointment without the agreement of the local government’s chief executive officer.

- (b) employees of a government owned corporation;
- (c) employees of a rail government entity under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 ;
- (d) members or employees of a local government;
- (e) other persons prescribed by regulation.
- (a) in the chief executive’s opinion, the person has the necessary experience or expertise to be an authorised officer; or
- (b) the person has satisfactorily finished training approved by the chief executive.
