### sec.84A Directions about use of vehicle or vessel
This section applies to—
a forest officer in relation to a State forest or timber reserve (a relevant area ); or
a plantation officer in relation to a State forest, timber reserve or licence area (also a relevant area ).
The officer may give a person in control of a vehicle or vessel in a relevant area a direction that regulates or prohibits the use of the vehicle or vessel in the area, if the officer reasonably believes it is necessary to—
prevent or remedy any harm to, or loss or destruction of, forest products or waters of the area; or
secure the safety of a person or a person’s property; or
minimise disturbance to people in the area; or
minimise or prevent damage to roads, drainage works, facilities or infrastructure.

The officer may give the direction using a sign or signal.
A person must comply with a direction given under this section, unless the person has a reasonable excuse.
Maximum penalty for subsection (4) —50 penalty units.
However, it is not a reasonable excuse for subsection (4) that the person holds an authority (such as an agreement, contract, permit, licence or lease) under this Act, that is inconsistent with the direction.

(sec.84A-ssec.1) This section applies to— a forest officer in relation to a State forest or timber reserve (a relevant area ); or a plantation officer in relation to a State forest, timber reserve or licence area (also a relevant area ).
