### sec.551 Codes of practice
The Minister may, by gazette notice, make codes of practice stating ways of achieving compliance with the general environmental duty for an activity that causes, or is likely to cause, environmental harm.
In making a code of practice under subsection (1) , the Minister—
must have regard to the matters mentioned in section 319 (4) ; and
need not but may have regard to the matters mentioned in section 319 (5) .
The department must keep a copy of a code of practice made under subsection (1) available on its website.
A code of practice has effect for 7 years after the day it is made, unless it is earlier repealed.
