### sec.503 Recovery of costs of investigation
This section applies if—
a person is convicted of an offence against this Act; and
the court finds the prosecution has reasonably incurred costs and expenses in investigating the offence; and
the prosecution applies for an order against the person for the payment of the costs and expenses.
Without limiting subsection (1) (b) , costs and expenses in investigating the offence may include costs and expenses of taking any sample or conducting any inspection, test, measurement or analysis during the investigation.
The court may order the person to pay to the prosecution the reasonable costs and expenses incurred by the prosecution if it is satisfied it would be just to make the order in the circumstances of the particular case.
This section does not limit the court’s powers under the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 or any other law.
