### sec.142 Electricity officer to give notice of damage
This section applies if an electricity officer damages anything when exercising or purporting to exercise a power under this chapter.
The electricity officer must immediately give written notice of the particulars of the damage to the person who appears to be the thing’s owner.
If the electricity officer believes the damage was caused by a latent defect in the thing or other circumstances beyond the officer’s control, the officer may state this in the notice.
If, for any reason, it is not practicable to comply with subsection (2) , the electricity officer must leave the notice, in a reasonably secure way and in a conspicuous position, at the place where the damage happened.
This section does not apply to damage that the electricity officer believes, on reasonable grounds, is trivial.
In this section—
owner of a thing includes the person in possession or control of the thing.
