### sec.148 Unsafe equipment notice
This section applies if an inspector reasonably believes that electrical equipment is so defective or hazardous that it is likely to cause a serious electrical incident.
The inspector may, by notice ( unsafe equipment notice ), require the owner to make the electrical equipment—
harmless; or
incapable of operation.
The owner must comply with the unsafe equipment notice, unless the owner has a reasonable excuse for not complying.
Maximum penalty—1,000 penalty units.
Subsection (3) places an evidential burden on the defendant to show a reasonable excuse.
