### sec.14 Meaning of electrical equipment Electrical equipment is any apparatus, appliance, cable, conductor, fitting, insulator, material, meter or wire that— is used for controlling, generating, supplying, transforming or transmitting electricity at a voltage greater than extra low voltage; or is operated by electricity at a voltage greater than extra-low voltage; or is part of an electrical installation located in an area in which the atmosphere presents a risk to health and safety from fire or explosion; or is, or is part of, a cathodic protection system; or is prescribed electrical equipment. Electrical equipment does not include any apparatus, appliance, cable, conductor, fitting, insulator, material, meter or wire that is part of a vehicle if— the equipment is part of a unit of the vehicle that provides propulsion for the vehicle; or the electricity source for the equipment is a unit of the vehicle that provides propulsion to the vehicle. the headlights of a vehicle ignition spark plugs of a motor vehicle the interior lighting system of a vehicle, if powered from a battery charged by the engine that drives the vehicle or by the vehicle's movement interior lighting or a socket outlet in a caravan, if the lighting or outlet is operated by a low voltage generating set or connected to low voltage supply a refrigeration unit in a food delivery vehicle operating at low voltage from a source separate from the propulsion unit for the vehicle However, prescribed electrical equipment is electrical equipment even if it forms part of a vehicle. s 14 amd 2004 No. 45 s 117 sub 2011 No. 18 s 335 amd 2024 No. 44 s 5 (sec.14-ssec.1) Electrical equipment is any apparatus, appliance, cable, conductor, fitting, insulator, material, meter or wire that— is used for controlling, generating, supplying, transforming or transmitting electricity at a voltage greater than extra low voltage; or is operated by electricity at a voltage greater than extra-low voltage; or is part of an electrical installation located in an area in which the atmosphere presents a risk to health and safety from fire or explosion; or is, or is part of, a cathodic protection system; or is prescribed electrical equipment.
