### sec.595 Mortgage duty on releases of mortgages This section applies if— before 1 July 2008, mortgage duty was imposed on a mortgage but was not paid; and on or after 1 July 2008, the mortgage is released. On and from 1 July 2008, section 269 continues to apply to impose mortgage duty on the release of the mortgage. Mortgage duty is imposed on the release at the rate applicable at the time the duty was imposed on the mortgage. s 595 ins 2008 No. 39 s 19 (sec.595-ssec.1) This section applies if— before 1 July 2008, mortgage duty was imposed on a mortgage but was not paid; and on or after 1 July 2008, the mortgage is released.
