### sec.40 Prisoner detained in custody
This section applies to an appeal if the prisoner is not legally represented and is detained in custody.
The chief executive must give the registrar written notice that the prisoner is detained in custody.
The registrar may ask the Court of Appeal for directions about the appeal, including, for example, about the prisoner’s attendance at the appeal.
