49A Rules for carrying out forensic procedures—giving and
recording information
(1) Before a forensic procedure is carried out on a person in relation to
the investigation of a matter by a police officer, a police officer must
ensure that the person is informed about the person’s right to
request—
(a) if a sample is to be taken from the person, and there is sufficient
material for an analysis to be carried out by or for the person and
the officer—that a part of the material sufficient for analysis be
made available to the person; and
(b) if a photograph or a video recording of a part of the person’s
body is to be taken—that a copy of the photograph or video
recording be made available to the person; and
(c) if a sample is to be taken from the person, and material from the
sample is analysed in the investigation of the matter—that a
copy of the results of the analysis be made available to the
