4736 Supreme Court criminal proceedings—arraignment
(1) On the arraignment of the accused person, the director of public
prosecutions may present an indictment in relation to the person to

the accused person must enter a plea.
Note The Crimes Act 1900, s 282 provides that, if a person refuses to plead,
the court may order a plea of not guilty to be entered on behalf of the
person. The plea has the same effect as if the person had pleaded not
guilty.

or give any direction, about the conduct of the proceeding it considers
