### sec.44 Prisoner’s ordinary mail at prisoner’s own expense A prisoner must purchase anything required for the prisoner’s ordinary mail. However, if the chief executive is satisfied that a prisoner does not have enough money to pay the postage costs, the costs may be paid for by the chief executive. If subsection (2) applies to a prisoner, the prisoner may post a letter not more than twice a week, unless otherwise approved by the chief executive. If a prisoner is participating in an approved activity, course or program that requires the prisoner to send things by mail, the postage costs associated with the prisoner’s participation must be paid for by the chief executive.
