### sec.33 Power to search
The chief executive may order a corrective services officer—
to conduct a general search, personal search, scanning search or an imaging search of a prisoner; or
to search a prisoner’s room; or
to search prisoner facilities.
Also, a corrective services officer may conduct a general search, personal search, scanning search or an imaging search of a prisoner if the officer reasonably suspects the prisoner possesses something that poses, or is likely to pose, a risk to—
the security or good order of the corrective services facility; or
the safety of persons in the facility.
A power under this Act to search a prisoner in any way—
includes a power to search anything in the prisoner’s possession; and
may be exercised at any time, including, for example, on the day on which the prisoner is discharged or released.

(sec.33-ssec.1) The chief executive may order a corrective services officer— to conduct a general search, personal search, scanning search or an imaging search of a prisoner; or to search a prisoner’s room; or to search prisoner facilities.
(sec.33-ssec.2) Also, a corrective services officer may conduct a general search, personal search, scanning search or an imaging search of a prisoner if the officer reasonably suspects the prisoner possesses something that poses, or is likely to pose, a risk to— the security or good order of the corrective services facility; or the safety of persons in the facility.
(sec.33-ssec.3) A power under this Act to search a prisoner in any way— includes a power to search anything in the prisoner’s possession; and may be exercised at any time, including, for example, on the day on which the prisoner is discharged or released.
- (a) to conduct a general search, personal search, scanning search or an imaging search of a prisoner; or
- (b) to search a prisoner’s room; or
- (c) to search prisoner facilities.
- (a) the security or good order of the corrective services facility; or
- (b) the safety of persons in the facility.
- (a) includes a power to search anything in the prisoner’s possession; and
- (b) may be exercised at any time, including, for example, on the day on which the prisoner is discharged or released.
