### sec.319 Compensation for lost or damaged property
A person may claim compensation from the State if, when the person was in the chief executive’s custody, the person’s property was lost or damaged while—
stored by the chief executive; or
being transported by the chief executive between corrective services facilities.
The person may apply to the chief executive for payment of an amount by the State for the loss or damage.
The application is to be decided by the chief executive.
The chief executive may approve the payment of an amount if satisfied the payment is justified in the circumstances.
In this section—
property means property recorded under section 317 (6) .
(sec.319-ssec.1) A person may claim compensation from the State if, when the person was in the chief executive’s custody, the person’s property was lost or damaged while— stored by the chief executive; or being transported by the chief executive between corrective services facilities.
(sec.319-ssec.2) The person may apply to the chief executive for payment of an amount by the State for the loss or damage.
(sec.319-ssec.3) The application is to be decided by the chief executive.
(sec.319-ssec.4) The chief executive may approve the payment of an amount if satisfied the payment is justified in the circumstances.
(sec.319-ssec.5) In this section— property means property recorded under section 317 (6) .

- (b) being transported by the chief executive between corrective services facilities.
