### sec.134 False or misleading information
A person must not give information to an official, including in a document, that the person knows is false or misleading in a material particular.
Maximum penalty—
if the person is a prisoner—2 years imprisonment; or
otherwise—100 penalty units or 2 years imprisonment.
Subsection (1) does not apply to a person giving a document, if the person when giving the document—
informs the official, to the best of the person’s ability, how it is false or misleading; and
if the person has, or can reasonably obtain, the correct information—gives the correct information.
It is enough for a complaint against a person for an offence against subsection (1) to state that the information was, without specifying which, false or misleading.
In this section—
official means any of the following when performing a function or exercising a power under this Act—
the chief executive;
a staff member;
a corrective services officer;
the parole board;
an inspector;
an official visitor.
