163 Production orders—consequential powers about
documents
(1) If a document is given to a police officer under a production order,
the officer may—
(a) take possession of, and make copies of, or take extracts from,
the document; and
(b) keep the document for the period necessary for this Act.
(2) If a police officer keeps a document given to the officer under a
production order, the officer must, if asked by a person who would be
entitled to inspect the document if it was not in the officer’s
possession—
(a) give the person a copy of the document certified by the officer
in writing to be a true copy of the document; or
(b) at any reasonable time, allow the person to inspect the
document, make copies of it or take extracts from it.
(3) If a document is made available to a police officer for inspection
under a production order as varied under section 162, the officer may
make copies of, or take extracts from, the document.
