### sec.121 Maintenance of canals
A local government must maintain and keep clean each—
canal in its area; and
access channel for a canal mentioned in paragraph (a) , whether or not the access channel is in its area.
Subsection (1) does not apply to—
a canal, other than an access channel for the canal, constructed under the Integrated Resort Development Act 1987 ; or
a canal constructed under the Sanctuary Cove Resort Act 1985 .
In this section—
canal means—
an artificial waterway surrendered to the State under this Act or the Canals Act; or
a canal surrendered under a lease under the Land Act 1994 .
