### sec.163 Maintaining and testing cap lamps
The underground mine manager for an underground mine must ensure—
each cap lamp used at the mine is operated for the minimum period stated in the standard against which the cap lamp is certified immediately before the cap lamp is tested; and
the cap lamp is used again only if the test shows its performance is at least 60% of the performance stated in the standard; and
a record is kept of results of maintenance and testing of cap lamps in use at the mine.
- (a) each cap lamp used at the mine is operated for the minimum period stated in the standard against which the cap lamp is certified immediately before the cap lamp is tested; and
- (b) the cap lamp is used again only if the test shows its performance is at least 60% of the performance stated in the standard; and
