### sec.22 Meaning of geographically separated
For section 21 (4) , a part of a surface mine is geographically separated from the rest of the mine if there is a clear boundary between the part of the surface mine and the rest of the mine.
Examples of a part of a surface mine that is geographically separated from the rest of the mine include the following—
a treatment plant that has all of its own facilities;
a surface mine excavation that has its own facilities, including haul roads not shared with persons involved in operations in another part of the mine;
a place where exploration activities are carried out if persons carrying out the activities do not share facilities with persons involved in coal mining operations in another part of the mine.
