### sec.55 Courts to provide sentencing information to police commissioner
This section applies if a court—
makes any order or imposes any sentence that has the effect of making a person a reportable offender for this Act; or
imposes any sentence on a person for a reportable offence; or
makes any order in relation to a reportable offender that has the effect of removing the offender from the ambit of this Act.
Paragraph (c) would apply, for instance, if a court on appeal quashes a person’s conviction for a reportable offence for which the person had been sentenced and that was the only reportable offence that the person had ever been convicted of.
The court must ensure that details of the order or sentence are given to the police commissioner as soon as practicable after the making or imposition of the order or sentence.
For subsection (2) , it is sufficient for the verdict and judgement record, made under the Criminal Practice Rules, to be given to the police commissioner.
In this section—
court does not include a court of a foreign jurisdiction.
