### sec.13B How proceeding for prohibition order is started
The police commissioner starts a proceeding against a respondent under section 13A (1) by issuing an appearance notice for the proceeding.
As soon as practicable after starting the proceeding, and before the time the respondent is required to appear at a place before a court under the appearance notice, the police commissioner must file the following documents with the registrar of the court at the place—
the application for the proceeding;
a copy of the appearance notice for the proceeding.
A police officer must serve a copy of the application and the appearance notice (the application documents ) on the respondent.

Also, for a child respondent, the police commissioner must, as soon as practicable after starting the proceeding, give a copy of the application documents to—
the chief executive (child safety), if the prohibition order sought is likely to result in the child respondent needing to change the child respondent’s place of residence; and
a parent of the child respondent, if the police commissioner is able to find a parent of the child respondent after making reasonable attempts.
