### sec.84 Ballot, and term of office, for elected members
At least 14 days before the new appointed members are appointed, a ballot under section 15(3) of the post-amended Act must be conducted for elected members.
Subsection (3) applies to a person who, immediately before the ballot is conducted, is an elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(a) of the pre-amended Act.
The person’s term of office ends when the elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(a) of the post-amended Act is elected under the ballot.
Subsection (5) applies to a person who, immediately before the ballot is conducted, is an elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(b) of the pre-amended Act.
The person’s term of office ends when the elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(b) of the post-amended Act is elected under the ballot.
Subsection (7) applies to a person who, immediately before the ballot is conducted, is an elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(c) of the pre-amended Act.
The person’s term of office ends when the elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(c) of the post-amended Act is elected under the ballot.
Subsection (9) applies to a person who, immediately before the ballot is conducted, is an elected member mentioned in section 15(2)(d) of the pre-amended Act.
The person’s term of office ends when the new additional members’ terms of office start.
A person is taken to be elected under the ballot when the new appointed members’ terms of office start.
Despite section 19(3), the term of office of a person elected under the ballot starts when the new appointed members’ terms of office start.
Subsections (3), (5), (7) and (9) apply despite section 83(3).
In this section—
post-amended Act means this Act as in force after the commencement of the University Legislation Amendment Act 2005 , part 2 .
