This legislation creates a new, simpler way for certain pilots to prove they are medically fit to fly without needing to see an aviation doctor.
What it does: Normally, pilots need a Class 1 or 2 medical certificate from an aviation medical examiner. This instrument creates a "Class 5 Medical Self-declaration" — an online system where eligible pilots can self-assess their fitness instead.
