### sec.144 Restriction on discontinuing engagement
This section applies if—
a party to an engagement of a private certifier may, under the engagement, discontinue it; and
the party takes whatever action is required under the engagement to discontinue it.
The discontinuance does not take effect until all other parties to the engagement have been given notice in the approved form of the discontinuance.
The private certifier must, within 5 business days after the discontinuance takes effect under subsection (2) , give the local government a copy of the notice.

(sec.144-ssec.1) This section applies if— a party to an engagement of a private certifier may, under the engagement, discontinue it; and the party takes whatever action is required under the engagement to discontinue it.
(sec.144-ssec.2) The discontinuance does not take effect until all other parties to the engagement have been given notice in the approved form of the discontinuance.
