### sec.16 Magistrates Court may approve change of child’s first name A Magistrates Court may, on application by an eligible person for a child whose birth or adoption was registered in Queensland, make an order approving a proposed change of first name for the child if— the name is not a prohibited name; and the court is satisfied that the change is in the child’s best interests. - (a) the name is not a prohibited name; and - (b) the court is satisfied that the change is in the child’s best interests.
