### sec.57 Purpose and administration of fund
The purpose of the fund is to record amounts received for, and paid from, the fund to provide for activities that help local governments manage invasive animals and invasive plants.
Activities that help a local government manage invasive animals and invasive plants include, for example, the following—
research about managing invasive animals or invasive plants in the local government’s area;
educational or training programs about invasive animals or invasive plants in the local government’s area;
the maintenance by an invasive animal board of any part of the barrier fence included in, or that benefits, the local government’s area;
taking action under a biosecurity program for invasive animals or invasive plants in the local government’s area.

Accounts for the fund must be kept as part of the departmental accounts of the department.
However, amounts received for the fund may be deposited in a departmental financial institution account of the department with other moneys of the department.
Amounts received for the fund include the following—
amounts made available by the chief executive for the fund;
amounts given to the chief executive by another entity for this Act;
the proceeds of the sale or hire of any buildings, equipment or machinery acquired by the Minister or chief executive in relation to a matter under this chapter or chapter 4 ;
the amount of any costs incurred and recovered by the chief executive in relation to a matter under chapter 4 ;
the amount of any payment required by the Minister under section 60 ;
other amounts received under this Act and prescribed under a regulation.
In this section—
departmental accounts , of the department, means the accounts of the department established under the Financial Accountability Act 2009 , section 69 (1) .
departmental financial institution accounts , of the department, means the accounts of the department established under the Financial Accountability Act 2009 , section 83 (1) .
other moneys , of the department, means all moneys of the department other than amounts received for the fund.
