### sec.280 Power in relation to activity or biosecurity matter
The inspector may in relation to the activity or biosecurity matter mentioned in section 278 , and to the extent reasonably necessary for managing the activity or matter—
direct a person at the place to take stated reasonable steps within a stated reasonable period; or
take reasonable steps; or
authorise another person to take reasonable steps.
Without limiting subsection (1) , reasonable steps may include steps requiring any person—
to remain at the place or not to enter the place; and
to clean or disinfect the place, a structure or another thing; and
to destroy the biosecurity matter or remove the biosecurity matter to another place to destroy it; and
to destroy a carrier of the biosecurity matter or remove the carrier to another place to destroy it; and
to dispose of the biosecurity matter other than by destroying it; and
to do something that assists with a step mentioned in paragraphs (b) to (e) ; and
to stop doing something that may interfere with a step mentioned in paragraphs (b) to (e) .
The direction may be given orally or by notice.
However, if the direction is given orally, the inspector must as soon as practicable confirm the direction by notice given to the person.
If the inspector takes the steps, the inspector also may exercise any of the powers of an inspector under this chapter.
