### sec.242 Appointment and qualifications
The chief executive may, by instrument in writing, appoint any of the following persons as inspectors—
a public service employee;
an employee of the Commonwealth or another State whose employment ordinarily involves matters about biosecurity;
a person who performs functions related to matters about biosecurity under a law of another country;
a veterinary surgeon under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1936 ;
a person who has entered into a contract, or is employed by an entity that has entered into a contract, with the chief executive to perform a function under this Act;
other persons or members of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation.
However, the chief executive may appoint a person as an inspector only if the chief executive is satisfied the person is appropriately qualified.

- (a) a public service employee;
- (b) an employee of the Commonwealth or another State whose employment ordinarily involves matters about biosecurity;
- (c) a person who performs functions related to matters about biosecurity under a law of another country;
- (d) a veterinary surgeon under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1936 ;
- (e) a person who has entered into a contract, or is employed by an entity that has entered into a contract, with the chief executive to perform a function under this Act;
- (f) other persons or members of a class of persons prescribed under a regulation.
