### sec.14 What is a biosecurity event
A biosecurity event is an event comprising something that—
has happened, is happening or may happen; and
has had, is having or may have a significant adverse effect on a biosecurity consideration; and
was or is being caused by, or may be or may have been caused by, biosecurity matter.
A horse has died and it has been confirmed that the death was caused by the Hendra virus infection. This may have a significant adverse effect on human health.
There has been a suspected outbreak of foot and mouth disease in another State that may spread to the State and may have a significant adverse effect on the economy.
- (a) has happened, is happening or may happen; and
- (b) has had, is having or may have a significant adverse effect on a biosecurity consideration; and
- (c) was or is being caused by, or may be or may have been caused by, biosecurity matter.
