### sec.139 Registration of person on interstate register
This section applies if—
a person gives the chief executive a signed application in the approved form to have the person’s name entered in the suitable adoptive parents register; and
at the time the application is given, the person’s name is in an interstate register; and
the person is eligible under section 76 to have the person’s name entered in the expression of interest register.
The chief executive must enter the person’s name in the suitable adoptive parents register.
This Act applies in relation to the person as if—
the person’s application under subsection (1) (a) were the person’s current expression of interest; and
the chief executive assessed the person, after selecting the person from the expression of interest register under section 88 and decided the person was suitable to be an adoptive parent generally.
In this section—
interstate register means a register kept under a law of another State substantially corresponding to the suitable adoptive parents register.

(sec.139-ssec.1) This section applies if— a person gives the chief executive a signed application in the approved form to have the person’s name entered in the suitable adoptive parents register; and at the time the application is given, the person’s name is in an interstate register; and the person is eligible under section 76 to have the person’s name entered in the expression of interest register.
(sec.139-ssec.2) The chief executive must enter the person’s name in the suitable adoptive parents register.
(sec.139-ssec.3) This Act applies in relation to the person as if— the person’s application under subsection (1) (a) were the person’s current expression of interest; and the chief executive assessed the person, after selecting the person from the expression of interest register under section 88 and decided the person was suitable to be an adoptive parent generally.
(sec.139-ssec.4) In this section— interstate register means a register kept under a law of another State substantially corresponding to the suitable adoptive parents register.
- (a) a person gives the chief executive a signed application in the approved form to have the person’s name entered in the suitable adoptive parents register; and
- (b) at the time the application is given, the person’s name is in an interstate register; and
- (c) the person is eligible under section 76 to have the person’s name entered in the expression of interest register.
