- The applicant, who was born on 12 July 1972, was presented together with her brother, Christopher James Coombe, in the County Court at Morwell on 24 April 1997 on a presentment which alleged (count 2) that she and Christopher Coombe did an act with intent to pervert the course of public justice in that they caused Allan Foster Ridley to make a false statement. Count 1 on the presentment alleged a separate charge against Christopher Coombe. The trial proceeded and on 2 May 1997 the jury returned a verdict of guilty on count 2 against both accused. The applicant admitted a number of prior convictions, and, after a plea made on 2 May, on 14 May the judge sentenced her to be imprisoned for a period of four months, wholly suspended for a period of 18 months. Christopher Coombe was also sentenced to be imprisoned for four months.
